CLINICAL LABORATORY IMPROVEMENT AMENDMENTS (CLIA)
Under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988, all providers performing laboratory testing are required to register with the CLIA program. This includes providers of physician’s in-house laboratory services. You must have a CLIA certificate to legally bill Medicare for diagnostic clinical laboratory tests, including simple tests.
